As befits a
major city, MALAGA boasts many
important historical sites. Here are just a
few:
La Alcazaba is a military fortress
build by the Moors in the 11th century on
the remains of a Romans fortress.
The Gibralfaro Castle / Fortress is
situated just next to La Alcazaba which it
is connected to by ducts from two of its
towers.
The Roman Theatre is located just
below La Alcazaba. It was not discovered
until 1951 in spite of it's size with a
radius of 31 meters.
Fundacion Picasso - The early years
of the life of Pablo Ruiz Picasso are
closely linked to the city of Malaga, where
he was born in 1881. |
The Costa del Sol’s beaches are the major
attraction for visitors.
Internationally-renowned sands with a clear
water, secluded coves and stony beaches make
up the Costa del Sol's beautiful natural
landscape. The many blue flags awarded by
the European Union are a guarantee of the
high quality of our beaches, which are famed
both for their cleanliness and for the
services and facilities they offer.
First-class part infrastructure and
excellent restaurant, hotels and shops all
make for a dream holiday. The
Mediterranean's average temperature and
daily hours of sunshine have turned the
coast into a familiar and oft-frequented
location for tourist from all corners of the
globe. |

The Malaga Feria is held during the 3rd week
of August. The
opening address of the fair, the "pregon de
la feria", which is read from the balcony of
the Town Hall, in the middle of Malaga Park,
signals the beginning of the festive days on
the third Friday of the month.
A huge spectacle of fireworks, light and
sound is held a little later, on the stroke
of midnight. The inauguration in the El Real
exhibition center takes place on the
following day. Thousands of people actively
participate each year in the festive
atmosphere of the Malaga Fair, during which
the incorporation of the city in the crown
of Castile by the Catholic Kings is
commemorated.
In addition to the bullfighting festival and
the horses harnessing competitions, a large
number of acts are organised in the squares
and streets of the city. |
